Perhaps no venue in Michigan has a greater history of amateur competition than Point O’ Woods G&CC. The Robert Trent Jones design was a regular host of the Western Amateur, which saw winners such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Justin Leonard. The Benton Harbor facility will host the 38th Michigan Junior State Amateur Championship for the first time in 2016.

Who: Boys, 18 and under, or have not yet attended college. A 19-year-old that has not yet attended college is eligible to participate. Please call the GAM office to register.

When: Sectional qualifiers held during July and August, Championship - Monday - Thursday, August 22-25

Where: Point O’ Woods G&CC, Benton Harbor 

Format: 18-hole sectional qualifiers, Championship - 36-hole stroke play (Gross only), low 32 advancing to match play

Champion: Fully Exempt
Top 4: 12 Performance Stars
Top 8: 8 Performance Stars
Top 16: 4 Performance Stars 

COMPETITION SCHEDULE

Monday, August 22 - 36 holes stroke play; cut to low 32 for Match Play.
The low 32 players in the Championship qualify for match play.  A tie for the Championship, as well as the 32nd spot, shall be decided immediately after completion of the 2nd round by a hole-by-hole playoff.
Note: If a player qualifies and is unable to compete in the Match Play Championship, he must notify the Committee immediately so that the next eligible player may be included.

AM – First-Round Matches

PM – Quarterfinal Matches                    

Thursday, August 25
AM –Semifinal Matches
PM - Final Match      

Match Play: General numerical USGA draw shall be used.
The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as are required for a match to be won.
