GAM Partner Spotlight: Rocket Mortgage Classic
June 7, 2021

The Rocket Mortgage Classic returns to the historic Detroit Golf Club, June 28–July 4, and will welcome back fans this summer for the third edition of the PGA TOUR’s only golf tournament ever held within the city of Detroit.

Fans will be treated to a field with some of the biggest names in golf, headlined by World Golf Hall of Famer Phil Mickelson, who in May became the oldest major championship winner in history by taking home the PGA Championship’s Wanamaker Trophy just weeks before his 51st birthday. The six-time major champion has won 45 times on the PGA TOUR, but will be seeking his first official victory in the state of Michigan.

Other major champions in the field include Bryson DeChambeau, who followed his victory at the 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic by winning the Covid-delayed U.S. Open in October, as well as Jason Day, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed and Webb Simpson.  Sungjae Im, Max Homa and Kevin Kisner, each ranked in the Top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking, have also committed, and two-time PGA TOUR winner and rising star Cameron Champ will return to Detroit for the third straight year alongside fan favorites Rickie Fowler and Harold Varner III.

The Rocket Mortgage Classic will feature a field of 156 players competing for a winner’s prize of $1.35 million and 500 FedExCup points. The event’s overall purse is $7.5 million. Tickets are available at, starting at just $20 for the Delta Dental Pro-Am at the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Wednesday, June 30.

Fans can enjoy the holiday weekend standing along the rope lines and watching the world’s best golfers in action. In cooperation with government and health officials from the City of Detroit and State of Michigan, the Rocket Mortgage Classic has developed a smart, safe plan that first and foremost prioritizes the health of the public, but also allows Detroiters to take part in this world-class PGA TOUR event.

More than a golf event, the Rocket Mortgage Classic aims to raise more than $1 million through fan engagements and returning initiatives at its highly-acclaimed three-hole stretch, AREA 313, as part of a larger fundraising effort to support the tournament’s multi-year Changing the Course initiative to end the digital divide in Detroit. AREA 313 already has established itself as one of the most entertaining trio of holes on the PGA TOUR, and now the event aims to make them “The Most Charitable Three Holes in Golf.” All proceeds raised through AREA 313 will be directed to the multi-year Changing the Course initiative, and these contributions will be invested into organizations and infrastructure that seek to end the digital divide and offer digital connectivity for all Detroit residents.

Fans can support the cause and have their images prominently displayed on-course by donating to the new “Faces of AREA 313 Presented by Priority Health” program, now available at  For a tax-deductible donation of $313, fans can choose to display their own face, or that of a fellow fan, first responder, frontline worker or loved one lost from the COVID-19 pandemic, on an electronic videoboard or along the hospitality areas within AREA 313, located at holes 14-16 at Detroit Golf Club. The donation will also allow fans to secure a pair of upgraded grounds tickets for one day of competition as well as a two-day ticket to the event for Monday, June 28 and Tuesday, June 29 to enjoy practice rounds and special events including the AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble Presented by CDW, voted the Best Special Event on the PGA TOUR in 2019, featuring top PGA TOUR players and celebrities.
