Junior Golf

Since registration for GAM Tournaments opened on Feb. 9, we’ve received many calls and e-mails with questions on various aspects of the Michigan Girls Junior State Amateur Championship. While we always welcome calls and e-mails to our office, we also want to provide as much information to our golfers as possible, so we’ve produced the following Michigan Girls Junior State Amateur Championship Frequently Asked Questions document.

How does the Michigan Girls Junior State Amateur Championship work?
There is no sectional qualifying for the Michigan Girls Junior State Amateur Championship. The Championship will be contested July 6 - 9 at Dearborn Country Club in Dearborn, MI. The entire field, which is now capped at 120 players, will play two 18-hole rounds of stroke play.
The low 16 players overall from the 36-hole stroke play championship will qualify for match play.  In addition, the low eight players from the 15-and-under age division that did not qualify for the overall match-play bracket will compete in a separate match-play bracket. A PLAYER CANNOT CHOOSE TO PLAY IN THE 15-AND-UNDER BRACKET IF SHE QUALIFIES FOR THE OVERALL BRACKET. A tie for the Championship, as well as the final match-play spots, shall be decided immediately after completion of the second round by a hole-by-hole playoff.

Who is eligible to compete in the Michigan Girls Junior State Amateur Championship?
Entries are open to all female amateur golfers who have not yet reached their 19th birthday by September 1, 2015, or who have not yet attended college, and are residents of Michigan or are a member of a GAM Member Club at time of entry.
