This correspondence will verify your entry for the 102nd Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship at Western Golf & Country Club on Monday, August 13 through Friday, August 17, 2018.
Please note your starting time and starting tee assignment from the enclosed pairing sheets. You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.
TOURNAMENT DATE: Monday, August 13 – Friday, August 17
DIRECTIONS: Take I-96 to Beech Daley. Go N to 5 Mile Rd. Go W on 5 Mile Rd. to Kinloch. The club is located at the corner of Kinloch and Graham.
PARKING: Parking will be available in the church lot across from the clubhouse off of Graham Rd. Western G&CC encourages you to use the bag drop to unload your clubs, but parking will not be permitted on the road or in the valet circle.

LODGING: Holiday Inn Express & Suites Detroit Northwest – Livonia, 27451 Schoolcraft Rd, Livonia, MI 48150, (734) 744-9888. A group rate of $116 will be available under the Group Code “Women’s Am”. The drop-dead date for receiving the block rate is July 16.
PRACTICE ROUND: For practice rounds at Western G&CC please contact the golf shop for rates and availability of practice rounds - (313) 531-2323. Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship contestants. Practice rounds will not be available on Saturday, August 11. On Sunday, August 12, practice rounds will only be available after 2 p.m.
GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: The following Rule applies to players. In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.
GAM DRESS CODE: Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars. Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted. Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.
FOOD: Lunch will be provided for the players after the first round on Monday, August 13th. The halfway house will have food available to purchase all week.
CADDIES/CARTS: All players are required to walk. Contestants may carry their own bag, use a push cart, or use a caddy. Players may provide their own caddy, or hire a caddy through Western G&CC. To reserve a Western G&CC caddy, please call Steve South at (313) 531-2601 by August 11. The base rate for a course caddy is $40 plus tip. Spectator carts are only permitted if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart, is submitted to the GAM at least two days prior to the competition. PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only. Range will open one hour before the first tee time.
WITHDRAWAL: If you have to withdraw, please notify the GAM by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. If you must withdraw within 24 hours of the competition, please contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242 ext. 124. Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.
SWEET 16 DINNER: Players who reach the Sweet 16 (win one match on Wednesday) are requested to attend the Sweet Sixteen Dinner in their honor on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Western G&CC in the players' pavilion. The reception will start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:00 p.m. All Michigan Woman Amateur contestants and guests are welcome to attend. Players are entitled to one guest and all other guests will be charged a fee of $25 per person. Any player who advances to the round of sixteen will be a guest of the GAM. Dressy attire!!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
STROKE PLAY – 36-hole stroke-play qualifying to determine 32 players for match play.
Monday, August 13 - First round, 18 holes, stroke play. Tee times begin at 8:30 AM. Lunch will be provided to players following the round in the players' pavilion.
Tuesday, August 14 - Second round, 18 holes, stroke play. Should there be a tie for final qualifying spots, a sudden-death playoff shall start immediately after all scores have been posted. Tee times begin at 8:30 AM.
MATCH PLAY – USGA General numerical draw shall be used. The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as necessary for the match to be won.
Wednesday, August 15 - Round of 32, 18 holes. Tee times run 8:00 – 10:15 AM. The Sweet Sixteen Dinner will be in the players' pavilion.
Thursday, August 16
AM – Round of 16, 18 holes. Tee times run 8:00 – 9:10 AM
PM – Round of 8, 18 holes
Friday, August 17
AM – Semifinal matches, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:00 and 8:15 AM
PM – Final Match, 18 holes starting between 12:30-1:00 PM. Prior to play, lunch will be provided to finalists in the players' pavilion
