Championship Player Memo
This correspondence will verify your entry into the 10th GAM Senor Match Play Championship at Forest Lake Country Club on Tuesday, May 29th – Friday, June 1st.  


TEE TIME: You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.

DIRECTIONS: Take Telegraph Road to Square Lake Road. Go W on Square Lake Road, then S on Club Drive.

Tuesday, May 29 – 18 holes, stroke play; the low 32 Senior Players qualify for Match Play & Low 16 Super Senior Players qualify for Super Senior Match Play Division (Lunch provided to all players between morning and afternoon waves. Morning wave players will eat after their round, afternoon wave players before their round.

Match Play: General numerical USGA draw shall be used.
The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as required for a match to be won.

Wednesday, May 30

Morning – 16 Matches for Senior Division & 8 Matches for Super Senior Division
Afternoon – 8 Matches for Senior Division

Thursday, May 31

Morning – 4 Matches for each Division
Afternoon – 2 Semifinal Matches for each Division

Friday, June 1

Morning – Final Match for each Division

LODGING: Auburn Hills Marriott Pontiac – 3600 Centerpoint Parkway, Pontiac, MI 48341 (248-253-9800). The rate is $109/night. The group name is “Senior Match Play”. The cutoff date is Tuesday, May 8.

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (248) 332-7070.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as GAM Senior Match Play contestants.

GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.

GAM DRESS CODE:  Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however, women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.  Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted.  Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

FOOD:  Lunch will be available for players on the first day of the competition. Players in the morning wave will eat after their round, players in the afternoon wave will eat before their round. 

CADDIES/CARTS: Automotive transportation is mandatory in this championship. NOTE: Only competitors may ride in the players’ carts. Spectator carts are only permitted if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart, is submitted to the GAM at least two days prior to the competition. PRACTICE RANGE:  Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only

PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the final spot(s) in either match-play bracket, a sudden death playoff will begin immediately after all stroke-play results are posted.
