Congratulations, This correspondence verifies your qualifying for the Michigan Junior Amateur Championship at Yarrow Golf & Conference Center in Augusta, Michigan on Monday, July 24 thru Thursday, July 27, 2006.

Monday, July 24 – 36 holes, stroke play; the low 30 players and ties play on Thursday
Tuesday, July 25 – 18 holes, stroke play
The low 16 players in the tournament qualify for match play. A tie for the medalist honors as well as the 16th spot, shall be decided immediately after the completion of the 2nd round by a hole-by-hole playoff.
Note: If a player qualifies and is unable to compete in the Match Play Championship, he must notify the Committee immediately so that the next eligible player may be included.
Match Play: General numerical USGA draw shall be used.
The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as required for a match to be won.

Wednesday, July 26 – Thursday, July 27 –
AM – First round, 18 holes AM – Semifinal round, 18 holes
PM – Quarterfinal round, 18 holesPM – Final round, 18 holes

Please note your starting time and starting tee assignment from the enclosed pairing sheets. You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.

Note: Should there be a need to adjust second round starting times, players will be notified when they return their first round scorecards. Be sure to confirm your afternoon starting time before leaving the scoring area.


CHAMPIONSHIP YARDAGE: Available @, under Tournaments / GAM Championships / Michigan Junior Amateur Championship – Course Setup.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-94 to exit 85. Go NE on M-96 through Galesburg and Augusta. M-96 turns into 48th St. The club is on the West side of 48th St.

CLUB ADDRESS: 10499 North 48th St., Augusta, MI 49012.

PRACTICE ROUND: Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (269) 731-2698. Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as Michigan Junior Amateur contestants.

CADDIES/CARTS: No caddies are allowed during any phase of the Championship. All players are required to walk. Contestants may carry their own bag. Carts are not permitted for spectators. Pull carts will be allowed for the championship.

FOOD: Monday: A complimentary cook out will be served to all of the participants in between there morning and afternoon rounds. On all other days the clubhouse will have food available for purchase.

GAM DRESS CODE: Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars. Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted. Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players prior to play on the days of the competition. The range will be open at 1 hour prior to the first tee time of each day.

WITHDRAWAL: If you must withdraw, contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242. If you call after business hours, please leave a message on voice mail #24. Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.

Conditions of the Competition

LATE TO TEE: Note under Rule 6-3 and Optional Condition as stated in Appendix I shall be in effect. All players must be present on the tee and ready to play at the time laid down by the Committee. The order of play is not relevant. See Decision 6-3a/2.

STARTING TIMES: Specific requests for starting times shall not be honored and assigned starting times shall not be changed.

CELL PHONES, PAGERS & PDA’S: During a stipulated round, use of a wireless communication device for any reason or use of any electronic device that provides information that may assist a player is prohibited. The definition of the term “use of” is deemed to be any act which either transmits or receives a wireless communication, including an audible alert from such device, or the accessing of information from any electronic device that may assist a player in making a stroke or in his play. Exception: A player may access a timepiece for the purpose of monitoring his pace of play. Penalty for breach of this condition – under Rule 33-7, the Committee may impose a penalty of disqualification.

NOTE: The GAM assumes no liability to players for this condition of the competition. By submitting an entry form and subsequently playing in the competition, players agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the GAM and its respective affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents and assigns from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities and losses, including without limitation reasonable attorney’s fees and costs and expenses of litigation, arising out of any negligent act or omission of the indemnifying party in connection with the wearing of “spikeless” shoes.
