Championship Player Memo

This correspondence will verify your entry into the 11th GAM Senor Match Play Championship at Oakhurst Golf & Country Club on Tuesday, May 28th – Friday, May 31st.  


TEE TIME: You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-75 to exit 89 (Sashabaw Road). Go N on Sashabaw to Clarkston Road. Turn right (E) on Clarkston and take to Clintonville Road. Turn right (S) on Clintonville. The club is located on the E side of the road.

Tuesday, May 28 – 18 holes, stroke play; the low 32 Senior Players qualify for Match Play & Low 16 Super Senior Players qualify for Super Senior Match Play Division (Lunch provided to all players between morning and afternoon waves on Tuesday. Morning wave players will eat after their round, afternoon wave players before their round.

Match Play: General numerical USGA draw shall be used.
The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as required for a match to be won.

Wednesday, May 29

Morning – 16 Matches for Senior Division & 8 Matches for Super Senior Division
Afternoon – 8 Matches for Senior Division

Thursday, May 30

Morning – 4 Matches for each Division
Afternoon – 2 Semifinal Matches for each Division

Friday, June 31

Morning – Final Match for each Division

LODGING: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hyatt Place Detroit/Auburn Hills 248.475.9393 under the name Golf Association of Michigan. You will be able to call the hotel directly using the name " Golf Association of Michigan" to reserve or by reserving directly online using the code "G-GAM2" The rate is $99.00 plus tax/ per room/ per night. This rate will include breakfast. The group cutoff date is May 20th 2019.

In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 4.3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.

GAM DRESS CODE:  Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however, women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.  Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted.  Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

FOOD:  Lunch will be available for players between the morning wave and afternoon wave on the first day of competition. Those that play in the morning will eat after their round, and those that play in the afternoon will eat prior to their round.

Caddies are not allowed at any point during this Championship. Automotive transportation is mandatory in this championship. NOTE: Only competitors may ride in the players’ carts. Spectator carts are only permitted if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart, is submitted to the GAM at least two days prior to the competition. PRACTICE RANGE:  Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only

In the event of a tie for the final qualifying spot(s) in either match-play bracket, a sudden death playoff will begin immediately after all stroke-play results are posted.

  If you have to withdraw, please notify the GAM by e-mailing If you must withdraw within 24 hours of the competition, please contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242 ext. 124. Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions. Refunds will be issued if the GAM office is notified prior to the close of entries for that competition. After the entry deadline, fees will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness (with a verified doctor's note). There is a $20 processing fee applied to all refunds.
