Championship Player Memo
This correspondence will verify your entry into the 18th GAM Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Owosso Country Club on Tuesday, August 2nd and Wednesday, August 3rd.  


TEE TIME: You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.

2nd ROUND PAIRINGS:  Will be available via and via phone. A number will be posted on the scoreboard.

DIRECTIONS: Course is 4 ½ miles north of Owosso. Take M-52 to Juddville. Go left (W) to stop sign, then right (N) on Chipman for ¼ mile.

CLUB ADDRESS:  4200 N. Chipman Road, Owosso, MI 48867.

LODGING: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Comstock Inn and Conference Center at 300 East Main St., Owosso, MI 48867. The hotel phone number is (989) 725-0999 and the group name is GAM Women’s Mid Amateur. The rate will be $85.00 per night. The cut-off date is July 1.  

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (989) 723-2592.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as GAM Women’s Mid-Amateur contestants.

In this competition a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance ONLY. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used. 

GAM DRESS CODE:  Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however, women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.  Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted.  Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

FOOD:  A complimentary meal will be available each day in the clubhouse after each round for competitors only. 

CADDIES/CARTS: Automotive transportation is mandatory in this Championship and cart fees are included in the entry fee. Only two carts per group will be allowed. Caddies are not permitted. No spectators will be allowed to ride in carts

PRACTICE RANGE:  Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only

PLAYOFF: A tie for the Championship only will be determined by a sudden-death playoff immediately after the final scores have been posted.  All other ties will be decided by the card matching method recommended by the USGA.  (Appendix I, Part C, paragraph 11). It is the player’s responsibility to be ready to play when called to the tee.

PRIZES: Prizes will be awarded in each division to the Low Gross and the Low Net finishers, based on the total number of participants in each division. Each Division and flight must have a minimum of 7 participants to award prizes to Low Gross and Low Net finishers. The overall low gross scorer in the Mid-Amateur Division will have her name engraved on the Jeanne L. Myers Trophy.

WITHDRAWAL:  If you must withdraw, contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242. If you call after business hours, please leave message on voice mail #24.  Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.
