Championship Player Memo

This correspondence will verify your entry for the 99th Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship on Monday, August 3 through Friday August 7, 2015.


Please note your starting time and starting tee assignment from the enclosed pairing sheets. You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.


DIRECTIONS:  Take US-31 to the MI-104 exit. Go E on M-104 to Fruitport Rd. Go N ½ mile to club.

LODGING: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn, Spring Lake, 940 W. Savidge Spring Lake, MI 49417 for a group rate of $129.95. plus taxes (single or double occupancy). For a reservation, you must call (616) 846-1000 by June 17, 2015, and identify yourself as a contestant in the Golf Association of Michigan.


A block of rooms has been reserved at the Best Western Beacon Inn, 1525 S. Beacon Blvd. Grand Haven, MI 49456 for a group rate of $129.95. plus taxes (single or double occupancy). For a reservation, you must call (616) 842-4720 by July 2, 2015, and identify yourself as a contestant in the Golf Association of Michigan.


PRACTICE ROUNDS: Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (616) 850-1153.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as Michigan Women’s Amateur contestants.


GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance ONLY. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.


GAM DRESS CODE:  Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.  Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted.  Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.


FOOD:  The Clubhouse will have food available to purchase. A lunch will be provided for players on Monday of the Championship.


CADDIES/CARTS:  All players are required to walk. Contestants may carry their own bag or bring their own caddie. Caddies must also walk. Carts are not permitted for caddies or spectators. Pull carts may be used if the host club allows. Spring Lake CC has 10 caddies that are available for hire. They can be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. The rate for a Spring Lake CC caddie is a flat rate of $40 per round without gratuity.


PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only.  Range will open one hour before the first tee time.


WITHDRAWAL:  If you must withdraw, contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242. If you call after business hours, please leave message on voice mail #24.  Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.


SWEET 16 DINNER: Players who reach the Sweet 16 (win one match on Wednesday) are requested to attend the sweet sixteen dinner in their honor on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Spring Lake CC. The reception will start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:00 p.m.  All Michigan Woman Amateur contestants and guests are welcome to attend. Guests will be charged a fee of $25 per person.  Any player who advances to the round of sixteen will be a guest of the GAM.  Dressy attire!!



STROKE PLAY - 36 hole qualifying to determine 32 players for match play. 


Monday, August 3 - First round, 18 holes, stroke play. Tee times begin at 8:30 AM. Buffet lunch will be provided.


Tuesday, August 4 - Second round, 18 holes, stroke play.  Should there be a tie for final qualifying spots, a sudden-death playoff shall start immediately after all scores have been posted. Tee times begin at 8:30 AM


MATCH PLAY – USGA General numerical draw shall be used.  The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as necessary for the match to be won.


Wednesday, August 5       

Round of 32, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:00 AM


Thursday, August 6          

AM – Round of 16, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:00 AM

PM – Round of 8, 18 holes


Friday, August 7          

AM – Semifinal matches, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:00 and 8:15

PM – Final Match, 18 holes
