This correspondence will verify your entry for the Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship on Monday, August 11, through Friday August 15, 2014.
Please note your starting time and starting tee assignment from the enclosed pairing sheets. You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.
DIRECTIONS: Take I-94 exit 175 to Ann Arbor/Saline Road. Head north, turns into Main Street. Turn left onto Stadium Blvd. The course is located on Stadium between State S. Main.

LODGING: A block of rooms has been reserved at Comfort Inn & Village Conference Center (Chelsea) 1645 Commerce Park Dr. 48118 for $119/night. Please call 734-433-8000 before July 23, 2014, to receive that rate and identify yourself as a 98th Michigan Women’s Amateur contestant.

GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance ONLY. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used. A PROHIBITED DEVICE SHALL INCLUDE ANY CELL PHONE OR SMART PHONE (E.G., I-PHONE, BLACKBERRY, ETC.) CAPABLE OF OPERATING AN APPLICATION FOR YARDAGE OR OTHER CONDITIONS OF GOLF INFORMATION.
GAM DRESS CODE: Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars. Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted. Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.
FOOD: The Clubhouse will have food available to purchase.
CADDIES/CARTS: All players are required to walk. Contestants may carry their own bag or bring their own caddie. Caddies must also walk. Carts are not permitted for caddies or spectators. Pull carts may be used if the club allows.
PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players on the days of the competition. During the days of August 11th & 12th contestants will be required to utilize the range facilities at Miles of Golf (3113 Carpenter Rd. Ypsilanti, MI 48197) prior to their round. The remaining three days of the competition players will utilize the facilities at U of M Golf Course. Range opens daily at 7 a.m. at both facilities. For players wanting to practice after their round on the 11th & 12th, Miles of Golf is offering a discount rate on range balls if you identify yourself as a Michigan Women’s Amateur contestant. This discount is only offered for the 11th & 12th.
WITHDRAWAL: If you must withdraw, contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242. If you call after business hours, please leave message on voice mail #24. Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.
SWEET 16 DINNER: Players who reach the Sweet 16 (win one match on Wednesday) are requested to attend the sweet sixteen dinner in their honor on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at U of M Golf Course. The reception will start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:00 p.m. All Michigan Woman Amateur contestants and guests are welcome to attend. Guests will be charged a fee of $25 per person. Any player who advances to the round of sixteen will be a guest of the GAM. Dressy attire!!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
STROKE PLAY - 36 hole qualifying to determine 32 players for match play.
Monday August 11 - First round, 18 holes, stroke play. Tee times begin at 8:30 AM
Tuesday August 12 - Second round, 18 holes, stroke play. Should there be a tie for final qualifying spots, a sudden death playoff shall start immediately after all scores have been posted. Tee times begin at 8:30 AM
MATCH PLAY – USGA General numerical draw shall be used. The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as necessary for the match to be won.
Wednesday August 13 Round of 32, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:00 AM
Thursday August 14 AM – Round of 16, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:00 AM
PM – Round of 8, 18 holes
Friday August 15 AM – Semifinal matches, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:00 and 8:15
PM – Final Match, 18 holes
