Championship Player Memo

This correspondence will verify your entry into the 5th GAM Senior Match Play Championship at Travis Pointe Country Club on Tuesday through Friday, May 28 – 31, 2013.


TEE TIME:
You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.


DIRECTIONS:
Take I-94 to exit 175 (Ann Arbor-Saline Road). Go S on Ann Arbor-Saline Road to the first stop sign. Turl left € to stay on Ann Arbor-Saline Road. Continue to the first traffic light (Pleasant Lake Road/Travis Pointe Road) Turn left (N) on Travis Pointe Road and go ¼ mile to the club.

CLUB ADDRESS:  2829 Travis Pointe Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.

Format:

Tuesday, May 28 – 18 holes, stroke play; the low 32 Senior Players qualify for Match Play & Low 16 qualify for Super Senior Match Play Division

Match Play: General numerical USGA draw shall be used.

The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as required for a match to be won.

Wednesday, May 29             Morning – 16 Matches for Senior Division & 8 Matches for Super Senior Division

Wednesday, May 29             Afternoon – 8 Matches for Senior Division

Thursday, May 30              Morning – 4 Matches for each Division

Thursday, May 30              Afternoon – 2 Semi-Final Matches for each Division

Friday,  May 31                  Morning – Final Match for each Division

LODGING: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Ann Arbor Regent hotel, 2455 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor for a group rate of $102 plus taxes (single or double occupancy). To make a reservation you must call 734-973-6100 by May 6, 2013, and identify yourself as a contestant in the GAM Senior Match Play Championship.

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (734) 662-5703.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as GAM Senior Match Play contestants.

FOOD:  On Tuesday lunch will be provided for the players.  Afternoon players should plan on eating before their round. The clubhouse will have food available for purchase on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

CADDIES/CARTS:  Carts are mandatory for all players. Entry fee covers cart for the entire competition. 

PRACTICE RANGE:  Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only.  Open 7:00 a.m.

GPS AND RANGEFINDERS: In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance ONLY. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used. A PROHIBITED DEVICE SHALL INCLUDE ANY CELL PHONE OR SMART PHONE (E.G., I-PHONE, BLACKBERRY, ETC.) CAPABLE OF OPERATING AN APPLICATION FOR YARDAGE OR OTHER CONDITIONS OF GOLF INFORMATION.  

PLAYOFF:  A sudden death playoff for the final spot(s) in both divisions will take place immediately after the final scores have been posted.

WITHDRAWAL:  If you have to withdraw the night or weekend before, please contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242. If you call after business hours, please leave message on voice mail #24.  Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.
