Championship Player Memo

This correspondence will verify your entry into the 4th GAM Senior Match Play Championship at Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club on Tuesday through Friday, May 29 – June 1, 2012.

TEE TIME: You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-75 to exit 32 (West Road). Go E on West Road to Allen Road. Go S (right) to Van Horn. Go E (left) to W. Jefferson. Go N (left) to Grosse Ile Parkway (County Bridge). Go right on Grosse Ile Parkway and cross bridge. The club entrance is on the right ½ mile down.

Format: 

Tuesday, May 29 – 18 holes, stroke play; the low 32 Senior Players qualify for Match Play & Low 16 qualify for Super Senior Match Play Division

Match Play: General numerical USGA draw shall be used.

The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as required for a match to be won.

Wednesday, May 30             Morning – 16 Matches for Senior Division & 8 Matches for Super Senior Division
Wednesday, May 30             Afternoon – 8 Matches for Senior Division

Thursday, May 31                 Morning – 4 Matches for each Division

Thursday, May 31                Afternoon – 2 Semi-Final Matches for each Division

Friday,  June 1                      Morning – Final Match for each Division

LODGING: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express, 21500 West Road in Woodhaven. The cost is $89.99 plus taxes, and you must call (734) 362-0933 by May 10th, 2012, and identify yourself with the code GAM.

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (734) 676-1169.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as GAM Senior Match Play contestants.

FOOD:  On Tuesday lunch will be provided for the players.  Afternoon players should plan on eating before their round. The clubhouse will have food available for purchase on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

CADDIES/CARTS:  Carts are mandatory for all players. Entry fee covers cart for the entire competition. 

PRACTICE RANGE:  Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only.  Open 7:00 a.m.

GPS AND RANGEFINDERS: In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance ONLY. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used. A PROHIBITED DEVICE SHALL INCLUDE ANY CELL PHONE OR SMART PHONE (E.G., I-PHONE, BLACKBERRY, ETC.) CAPABLE OF OPERATING AN APPLICATION FOR YARDAGE OR OTHER CONDITIONS OF GOLF INFORMATION.  

PLAYOFF:  A sudden death playoff for the final spot(s) in both divisions will take place immediately after the final scores have been posted.

WITHDRAWAL:  If you have to withdraw the night or weekend before, please contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242. If you call after business hours, please leave message on voice mail #24.  Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.
