Championship Player Memo

DIRECTIONS: Take I-75 to the University Dr. exit. Go E on University Dr. to N. Squirrel Rd., Go N on N. Squirrel Rd. to Walton Blvd. Go E on Walton Blvd. to Great Oaks Blvd. Go N on Great Oaks Blvd. to the club.

CLUB ADDRESS: 777 Great Oaks Blvd., Rochester, MI 48307.

LODGING: Crowne Plaza, 1500 Opdyke Road, Auburn Hills – (248) 373-4550. Reservation must be made by June 22, 2009, in order to get the special rate of $99 plus taxes. Please mention that you are a competitor in the MI Women’s Amateur to receive this rate.

PRACTICE ROUND: Please contact Great Oaks CC for availability. Call (248) 651-4920 and identify yourself as a Michigan Women’s Amateur competitor. No practice rounds will be available on July 6th or July 13th.
GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance ONLY. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.
GAM DRESS CODE: Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars. Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted. Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

FOOD: The Clubhouse will have food available to purchase.

PRO SHOP: The Great Oaks pro shop has graciously granted a 20% reduction on all merchandise for contestants in the Michigan Women’s Amateur.

CADDIES/CARTS: All players are required to walk. Contestants may carry their own bag or bring their own caddie. If you wish a Great Oaks caddie, you must call 248-651-4920 by 5:00 PM on July 7th. Caddies must also walk. Carts are not permitted for caddies or spectators. Pull carts may not be used.

PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players on the days of the competition, prior to play only. Range opens daily at 7:00 a.m.

WITHDRAWAL: If you must withdraw, contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242. If you call after business hours, please leave message on voice mail #24. Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.

SWEET 16 DINNER: Players who reach the Sweet 16 (win one match on Thursday) are requested to attend the sweet sixteen dinner in their honor on Thursday, July 16 , 2009, at Great Oaks CC in the Augusta Room. The reception will start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:00 p.m. All Michigan Woman Amateur Contestants and guests are welcome to attend. Guests will be charged a fee of $20 per person. Any player who advances to the round of sixteen will be a guest of the GAM. Dressy attire!!


STROKE PLAY - 36 hole qualifying to determine 32 players for match play.

Tuesday July 14 - First round, 18 holes, stroke play. Tee times begin at 8:00 AM. Players starting on #1 Tuesday will start on #10 Wednesday and vice versa for ladies starting on #10.

Wednesday July 15 - Second round, 18 holes, stroke play. Should there be a tie for final qualifying spots, a sudden death playoff shall start immediately after all scores have been posted. Tee times begin at 8:00 AM

MATCH PLAY – USGA General numerical draw shall be used. The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as necessary for the match to be won.

Thursday July 16Round of 32, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 7:30 AM

Friday July 17 AM – Round of 16, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 7:30 AM
PM – Round of 8, 18 holes

Saturday July 18AM – Semifinal matches, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 7:30 AM
PM – Final Match, 18 holes
