  • West Michigan Golf Show is Feb. 10-12

    Kick off the Michigan golf season by attending the West Michigan Golf Show, Feb. 10-12 at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids. Hours are Fri. 4-9 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sun. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is $9 for adults; $4 for children ages 6-14. Children 5-and-under are admitted free.   • Michigan Golf Course Superintendents Association
    The Michigan Golf Course Superintendents Association (MiGCSA) held its annual elections on January 10th 2012 in the Vandenburg B Room at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids. Jay Eccleton, CGCS, Director of Golf Course Operations at The Emerald Golf Course, St. Johns was elected to his second consecutive term as President with this vote.
  • Heather Hills Golfer Wins Oakland Hills Package

    David  Marchetti  is the winner of the drawing to play Oakland Hills Country Club’s South Course. The prize includes lunch and a video golf lesson with Oakland Hills PGA professional Steve Brady.

    “It’s unbelievable,” said Marchetti. “I can’t believe it. I’ve never played at Oakland Hills before. I’m surprised and shocked and loving it!”

    Marchetti, 52, has been a GAM member for six years through Heather Hills Golf Club in Romeo. He plans to ask a couple of his friends to join his foursome which will also include Oakland Hills member and GAM Governor David Baughman.

  • USGA Taps GAM President for Key Role

    Ron Gaines, president of the Golf Association of Michigan, has been appointed to the United States Golf Association’s prestigious Handicap Committee.

    The appointment reflects Gaines’ many years of service as the GAM Handicap Chair and his unselfish efforts on behalf of amateur golf nationally and locally.

    The call came from Brigid Lamb of the USGA Executive Committee.
