Written By: ssmiley@gam.org

Farmington Hills, MI – Why do we play golf? Because it is fun, right? The September issue of Golf Digest proves that we are having a heck of a lot of fun on the fairways in Michigan as our fair state has eight golf courses ranked in the magazine's Top 50 Most Fun Courses list. Six public courses and two private courses made the list.
The "most fun" public courses in Michigan are:

#9 Threetops -- Gaylord
Treetops Resort's executive course has been a longtime favorite of Michigan golfers. Golf Digest cites its "tee-to-green elevation" as one of the many reasons to visit this course.

#17 Arcadia Bluffs -- Arcadia
The view of Lake Michigan is spectacular and Golf Digest likes the "roller coaster elevation changes."

#26 Forest Dunes GC -- Roscommon
Tucked away in the middle of Northern Michigan woods, this course is known for its fast greens and picturesque setting. Golf Digest loves its "immaculate conditioning."

#29 Lakewood Shores (The Gailes) -- Oscoda
The Scottish links style course is popular for weekend getaways. Golf Digest loves its authentic feel.

#38 University of Michigan GC -- Ann Arbor
Alister Mackenzie designed this course and Golf Digest loves its "outstanding greens and green complexes."

#48 Elk Ridge -- Atlanta
Located in Northern Michigan's elk country, this course weaves through forest and wetlands. Golf Digest likes the whimsical pig-shaped bunker.

The "most fun" private courses in Michigan are:

#6 The Dunes Club -- New Buffalo
Dunes and forest come together to create a unique golf experience. Golf Digest says you won't be able to resist a second round.

#33 Crystal Downs CC -- Frankfort
Golf Digest loves the "rumpled fairways and classic greens." Another Alister Mackenzie creation.
